An election is a process in which a political representative is selected. In an election, a decision is reached by counting the number of responses. These responses in elections are called votes. Whatever comes out to have the highest number of votes is selected as the winner of the election. This means that the candidate that wins the election is going to be at the one to carry out the office to which they were running for. Elections are generally not a short, straight to the point process. Elections are held over the course of time. Since these elections are held for a specific length of time, this gives each of the candidates to thoroughly state their platforms. The elections allow the people to get to know each candidate’s opinion on the different aspects of government. This allows the people to make the best assessment as to who is going to be able to most accurately speak to their issues. An election deciphers who is going to hold the position of the different positions of the executive, judiciary, regional, legislative, and local government. This is to ensure that the people will have a say on the policies that are created and revised. Many businesses and school systems use the practice of political elections to elect candidates to hold a particular office.
1. An election is one of the key initiatives that have been put forth by the representative democracy. A representative democracy is highly characterized by the fact that the voices and opinions of the people are heard through a representative. These representatives are selected in a representative democracy through an election. They use elections to see to it that they have a hand in choosing who is going to speak on their behalf and introduce new ideas and practices and improve those that are already in existence.
2. Elections have proven to be quite effective throughout the years, but many feel that there can be improvements in this regard. They feel that the elections are not as valid as they should be. Many feel that there are ways that people have come to abuse the democracy system that affords the opportunity of an election. They feel that an election do not truly speak to the way that people feel on certain issues. Since elections have been practiced, they feel that there has not been the fundamental change that is necessary in the world. Therefore, we need to look at the original values and principles that the country was build on in order to get to the root of the problem…and to many, that is elections.
