An election is a process in which a political representative is selected. In an election, a decision is reached by counting the number of responses. These responses in elections are called votes. Whatever comes out to have the highest number of votes is selected as the winner of the election. This means that the candidate that wins the election is going to be at the one to carry out the office to which they were running for. Elections are generally not a short, straight to the point process. Elections are held over the course of time. Since these elections are held for a specific length of time, this gives each of the candidates to thoroughly state their platforms. The elections allow the people to get to know each candidate’s opinion on the different aspects of government. This allows the people to make the best assessment as to who is going to be able to most accurately speak to their issues. An election deciphers who is going to hold the position of the different positions of the executive, judiciary, regional, legislative, and local government. This is to ensure that the people will have a say on the policies that are created and revised. Many businesses and school systems use the practice of political elections to elect candidates to hold a particular office.

1. An election is one of the key initiatives that have been put forth by the representative democracy. A representative democracy is highly characterized by the fact that the voices and opinions of the people are heard through a representative. These representatives are selected in a representative democracy through an election. They use elections to see to it that they have a hand in choosing who is going to speak on their behalf and introduce new ideas and practices and improve those that are already in existence.

2. Elections have proven to be quite effective throughout the years, but many feel that there can be improvements in this regard. They feel that the elections are not as valid as they should be. Many feel that there are ways that people have come to abuse the democracy system that affords the opportunity of an election. They feel that an election do not truly speak to the way that people feel on certain issues. Since elections have been practiced, they feel that there has not been the fundamental change that is necessary in the world. Therefore, we need to look at the original values and principles that the country was build on in order to get to the root of the problem…and to many, that is elections.

Despite the fact that Senator John McCain was able to overcome so many adversities and be one of the leading candidates in the 2008 Presidential Election, he did not make out with the victory. McCain had struggled immensely in the beginning stages of his run for Presidency. He found himself being largely short of the funds that are necessary to run a Presidential Election. So this meant that McCain had to make some major sacrifices to even get from point A to point B. While the other Presidential candidates were traveling from state to state on their private jets, McCain was in such a tight financial crunch that he was found riding in a charter bus from city to city in the early stages of his rum for Presidency. Once Senator John McCain began to gain positive ground, it seemed to be an uphill battle from that point on. Although John McCain faced the challenges that every Presidential candidate must face, he continued to move forward in his political campaign. McCain had reached a point where not only did he receive endorsements that allowed him to be financially equipped to withstand the rest of the election, McCain was also elected the Republican candidate. This meant that Senator John McCain had reached the hearts of many of the American citizens. Nevertheless, Senator John McCain was still not the victor in the 2008 Presidential Election for several different reasons.

1. One reason why Senator John McCain did not win the 2008 Presidential Election was because although many liked McCain, they were not very confident in his choice for his Vice-Presidential running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. They did not agree with her on several different matters. Many felt as though the message that Senator John McCain was trying so hard to convey was tarnished by her input. There was a great deal of controversy surrounding the Vice-Presidential candidate that took away from the message that Republican Presidential candidate John McCain was trying so hard to project. Many did not feel comfortable voting for McCain because they did not want to see the rules and governing policies of the United States being largely influenced by Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

2. Another reason why Senator John McCain did not win the 2008 Presidential Election was because in the year 2008, there was such a large movement for change in the United States. They felt that McCain would not be able to provide the American people with the change that they were looking for. The people wanted fundamental difference, and wasn’t content that McCain could provide that. In the year 2008, the United States economy was at such a bad state that the people wanted someone that would be able to offer a solution for the country’s financial state. McCain just wasn’t able to convey his solutions to the people. In addition, the people wanted drastic solutions in terms of the American health care industry, and Senator John McCain seem to fall short of people’s expectations.

Hillary Clinton

Many people were puzzled when Barack Obama did not choose Hillary Clinton as his Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2008 Presidential Election. They knew that Hillary Clinton had won the hearts of many during the Presidential Election. Hillary Clinton had proven that she had large influence in the United States. They just thought that Clinton was the most obvious choice for Barack Obama’s Vice-Presidential running mate. As you delve deep into the circumstances, you will discover that Barack Obama, did, in fact, make the right decision by not selecting Clinton despite popular demand. There are two main reasons why he was forced to come to that decision. Obama had to select Joe Biden as his Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2008 Presidential election instead. By him choosing to select Joe Biden as his Vice-Presidential candidate rather than Hillary Clinton, he was able to make the greatest strategic move that was best for him and more importantly, that was best for the American people.

1. One reason why Barack Obama did not select Hillary Clinton as his Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2008 Presidential Election is because the two candidates had slightly different focuses during the election while they were both running for President. Hillary Clinton had very specific issues that she wanted to face her Presidency focusing on, while Barack Obama had very distinct issues that he wanted to work on. There could have potentially been a clash between Obama and Clinton if they were to run together. It would be hard enough for Obama to deal with the issues that he was going to work on, so taking on the platform of Clinton, as well, would be way too much to handle. This would be counter-productive to both the causes of Obama and Clinton.

2. The second reason why Barack Obama did not choose Hillary Clinton as his Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2008 Presidential Election is because Clinton did not offer the level of experience that Joe Biden was able to offer. One of the areas that voters felt that Barack Obama could be lacking was in foreign affairs. Clinton simply did not have the experience that Joe Biden had in this regard. Clinton wasn’t going to be of help to him in this aspect of the election. Although women issues were at the center of the campaign for Hillary Clinton, Clinton was not the only prospect that made great advances for women. Joe Biden had also made some tremendous advances in improving the law in regards to advancing women’s rights. Not to mention, Joe Biden had much more experience in the world of politics.
