The Republican Party was formed in 1854 as they ban together in opposition of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The Republican Party did not agree with the bill that Stephen A. Douglass, the Senator of Illinois intended to pass. The Kansas-Nebraska Act would allow settlers of the two territories the authority to decide if they would permit slavery in the given region. As a Republican, this was something that the party was highly against. The Republican Party did not want to see there being the possibility for slavery to be extended out to even more regions of the country. As a Republican in that day and age, the key aspect that people worked so hard to fight for was the abolition of slavery. So this is something that they were highly against. This made each Republican ban together even closer. They wanted to do whatever they could to see to it that they could show a stronger force than the current democracy on the issue. As a Republican, they worked to be able to bring forth positive change. They wanted to reshape the current state of the government. The Republican Party worked extremely hard to ensure that the policies that they were concerned with were improved and originated accordingly.
1. As a Republican, one of the early efforts that was made was in terms of the country’s political prosperity. The average Republican back in the 1800s wanted to see that there was forward movement in this country. The Republican Party saw the growth potential that was evident in America. The Republican just needed the platform to voice their opinions and make sure that they were genuinely heard. They needed to then get into political office so that they could carry out these political goals.
2. The Republican Party was highly concerned with the lifestyles of the farmers. As a Republican, they wanted farmers to be able to live a fruitful life. In the meantime, as a Republican, they wanted to see that America’s economy be able to grow more abundantly. The Republican Party wanted to see to it that they created an industry that would afford opportunities to the masses. They wanted to see that the income of the country were to increase more abundantly.
3. The Republican Party was instrumental in building the cities that we know and love. Aside from the aesthetic beauty of a city, as a Republican, you wanted to see that a large amount of revenue would be earned as a result of the building of these cities. The Republican Party was able to initiate that effort. Those American cities that the Republicans help to build still have the very foundation that the original members of the Republican Party were instrumental in building from the ground up.
