Republicans

Republicans are one of the largest political parties in the United States of America. Republicans were formed in the mid 1800s in the year 1854, to fight for the non-extension of slavery. The Republicans have proven to be a strong political force ever since. The Republican Party is the more conservative of the two main political parties in the United States. The Republicans fall to the right of the political realm. The Republican Party is also commonly called the Grand Old Party. Many attribute their name to their traditional political values. There are 55 million voters currently registered as Republicans. Although they do not come in first place for the number of registered voters, the political party has not been unsuccessful in all their political pursuits.

1. The very first platform that was held by the Republican Party was their opposition to slavery. Then, President Abraham Lincoln, was a member of the Republican Party. Abraham Lincoln with the help of fellow Republicans was able to win their efforts in the abolition of slavery.

2. A key goal of the Republican party at its first inception was to make the United States a more modern society. They worked to initiate some of America’s core values. The Republicans wanted to make drastic changes to the very ideologies that the country was originally founded upon. One of the ways that they wanted to go about doing so is by implementing change by way of education. The Republican Party wanted to make sure that the knowledge that we all contain was being shared across the masses throughout the country.

3. The Republicans also worked extremely hard in terms of banking in the United States. The Republican Party largely contributed to the effort of seeing to it that the United States of America’s economy were to flourish. One of the ways that the Republican Party was able to spark that growth potential was through railroads. These railroad largely increased the amount of travel throughout the country. Likewise, the railroads were instrumental in increasing the amount of profit that the country brought in.

4. The Republican Party launched its very first political campaign in 1856. The Republicans were able to create quite a movement during this time. They were able to influence other people to share their views. Additionally, the Republican Party was able to ban together to form an even stronger unit. They were not successful in winning their first election, but that still did not still their thunder. They still went on to fight for what they believed in, and still do. To this very day, their political influence remains quite a force to reckon with.
